The Sierra's five-stage process utilizes a reverse osmosis membrane and pre- and post-filters to remove up to 98% of all salts, "hard-water" minerals, and other dissolved and suspended solids. The manifold design, color- coded filters, and matching quick-connect tubing make filter changes clean and simple. The Sierra membrane cartridges are 100% factory tested before they are sealed and shipped dry. Each system incorporates five stages of purification: STAGE I: 5 Micron Particulate Pre-Filter - Removes dirt, sediment, sand and other physical particles. STAGE II: Granulated Activated Carbon Pre-Filter - Reduces chemicals, such as chlorine, that may be in your water supply. STAGE III: Ultra Filtration - Removes microscopic particles such as bacteria cysts algea, toxic metals (lead, mercury and arsenic).
