Good for stirring, but gets hot September 26, 2008 The spoon is good for stirring as described. I got it free with a purchase. The regular price off $12 is a bit high since it can't multi-task. The spoon has a hole for stiring, as a result it can not be used to scoop. Found it's good for making bbq sauce or pasta sauce. Only negative is the fact the handle can get hot if left in the pot or near hot steam. The handle is a metal shaft covered with silicon, so it conducts heat.
Wonderful product September 15, 2008 It works so great on no-stick fry pan and Le Creuset french ovan. The handle is easy to hold. Easy to clean.
great spoon, but needs thicker handle August 29, 2008 I got this spoon free with a purchase from amazon, so I didn't expect much from it. Well, I was wrong. Now I use it almost every day. I use it for making scrambled eggs, I mix eggs right in the pan with the spoon, not fearing of scratching non-stick surface. It is great for making sauces where you have to mix the heating mixture constantly, and it is nice that some sauce will come through the hole, it works almost like a whisk, but without the hassle of cleaning out the wires. The spoon is really easy to wash. My only complain is that the handle is quite narrow, and it is harder to grab and hold then my other kitchen utensils. I think if it was thicker the spoon would be even better, especially for mixing thicker batters or for people with arthritis in their hands.
A dumb little kitchen too that I love! August 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this tool - it can't be warped it seems. I use it to make scrambled eggs, stir very hot things - it doesn't melt when it makes prolonged contact with the bottom of the pan. All in all it was a great impulse purchase!
Great for any kitchen or as a gift August 10, 2008
This is a thoughtfully created utility spoon. I use it all the time for cooking, stirring, and sauteing. There is a metal core to the spoon, so I'm sure over time it will break through and the tool will be useless. However, the metal core gives it the rigidity you need to push through a batch of homemade caramel or thick pancake batter.
I paid $4.99 at the Friday sale and I wish I'd purchased more. Bright/deep blue is not the color of my kitchen, but it is very 'delft-ish' and fairly neutral compared to Rachael Ray orange.
I used to use similar shaped melamine tools. They were cheaper, but I can no longer find them on the market. I think the silicone is better in hot pans anyway. Like others cited, I do like the long handle. The spoon itself makes an effective spatula for licking out the brownie bowl...a favorite pastime at my house.
