Amazon.com Review Sewing advances into the twenty-first century with this computerized free arm sewing machine from Brother. Simple to use, the sewing machine offers users a choice of 37 stitches, 21 of which are decorative. Utility, mending, quilting, stretch, and decorative purposes benefit from the machine's 77 stitch functions. The UL-listed machine further endears itself with an automatic needle threader, a thread cutter, and one-step bobbin replacement. The 110-volt sewing machine uses an electrical foot pedal to control operation. Users select stitch styles from a computerized LED screen. An adjustable control allows manipulation of the thread tension, while a separate built-in control alters stitch width and length for varying projects. While only one needle comes installed in the machine, the machine accommodates twin-needle stitching. The sewer engages reverse operation manually. Five diverse one-step styles insert buttonholes, automatically sized, in garments. Accessories are stored in a built-in compartment. Users carry the machine on the provided handle for travel. As with any electrical devise, read the safety guidelines and instructions thoroughly prior to use. The manual offers English and Spanish texts. This item is covered by a limited 25-year warranty. The sewing machine measures 16 by 6-3/4 by 11-1/2 inches and weighs 11 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

Wife Loves it... January 6, 2009 ...SO Far! I bought it for her as a B-day gift. yeah, I didn't understand it either, but I got excited over the new lawn mower... so... She picked it out, it is light, does cool stitches (we have star stitches on curtains now), She is happy with it so far. But I did hear some swearing at it a couple of times (thus the 4 stars, not the 5), but she comes outa that room with a smile on her face afterwards.
Great Machine! Even for beginners! December 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this machine so I could make Christmas Presents this year and it has been great. The only thing i would reccomend is if you are new to sewing to try and have someone who isnt new around, the directions can be somewhat confusing in their wording, especially if you have never even looked twice at a machine before. And it took me forever and a year to figure out how to thread the bobbin, and the machine since I didnt know how. But once i got it, i figured out that it has lots of different stitch settings, which I am still trying out and will probably never use all of them. It can sew buttons as well. And it comes with lots of feet for the machine as well as bobbins (it has to have a special kind) and a little kit of tools as well. Overall this is a great buy! I may end up purchasing "Sewing for Dummies" to go along with it, so I can learn to sew more then a pillow. :-)
Sew Far, Sew Good November 21, 2008 So far, so good with this entry level machine.
This machine replaces an over thirty-years old "boat anchor" that had become quite sluggish in recent years. This machine is sold in big box retail outlets like Target, Kohls, and Costco, so it's a very basic machine good for simple projects and mending. It's perfect for my needs. I finished an apron on this machine and it handled the project quite nicely. The fabric was light weight calico - not overly challenging for the machine.
I will add to this review when I complete my next projects - some stuffed toys for young kinfolk and a PJs and robe set for my husband. The fabrics for these projects are heavier and may be more challenging. I'll come back and update my review.
DANGEROUS!!!!!!! October 14, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE, IT IS TOO CHEAP. AND THE COMPUTER IS NOT PROGRAMMMED ACCURATELY.
Everything went well until I sewed the button hole. The computer had a mind of its own, and would go too far to the right. I stopped using it after 2 needles bent. Thank God they did not break off! Try a Janome instead. Remember, we get what we pay for. My life is worth more than this piece of junk.
Great sewing machine for the price September 30, 2008 I just purchased this machine for the little girl I teach sewing to and am jealous of how many features it offers and how nice it sews. I've recommended it to 7 of my friends and family and all love how well it handles thin and thick fabrics alike. This is really a great machine.
