Stopped working within 2 months of once a week use January 2, 2009 I bought this rice cooker because I wanted something fast and easy to cook rice and steam at the same time. It seemed alright at first, but then just quit working one day. It would not turn on. I take very good care of my things and I know it wasn't me. I will not monetarily support Oster anymore in their rice cookers, and I will read reviews for their other products before I buy from them again. Do not recommend--and I've seen the other reviews that said theirs stopped working one day also. Hopefully they'll fix it, it looks and feels like a nice product.
Good product December 23, 2008 I don't know why anyone is having trouble with this. It makes perfect rice. Nothing gets burned. It's perfect every time.
Reliable and Inexpensive July 28, 2008 We keep buying the same Oster rice cooker every 2-3 years.....We use it everyday, so it does wear out. If you leave it on warm for too long, then it will form a crust at the bottom, but it comes off very easily. After awhile, sometimes it under cooks the rice, but if left on warm, it will cook thoroughly. Overall, we have found this rice cooker very useful and dependable...We love the rice that it cooks!
Still doing well after more than three years May 5, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This rice cooker has no fancy feature but it has worked well for us. We bought ours from Macy over three years ago. The non-stick coating is beginning to wear thin. But that is not surprising since we use it every single day. We use the measuring cup that comes with it to measure the rice (good quality Chinese, Japanese, or Korean rice, no Uncle Ben) and put in water according to the marking in the pot. We get good rice every time. It is true that if we leave it at "warm" for a while, a thick hard crust would form at the bottom. But for us, we usually unplug it as soon as it finishes cooking so this rarely happens. When it does, we would take whatever above it and pour in half a cup of water. The crust comes off easily after 15 minutes or so and it is still pretty good for eating. :-)
Oster 4715 rice cooker review May 5, 2007 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
The design of the product is not bad for the price. But the reliability of the product is quite a minus. After using for less than 10 times, the rice cooker stopped turning on!
