Cumbersome February 21, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This item is heavy and doesn't cook pancakes nearly so well as my friends' less weighty item from Smart and Final. It usually sits up high in the cupboard. I do not take it on camp outs.
Texas Steak in a multi-unit world September 1, 2007 For those of us who live in mult-unit complexes ie.condos,apt.ect.with fire codes that don't allow open flame grilling;this cast iron griddle is in my opion the best alternative.
Makes great food, but is smokey August 22, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this griddle a few weeks ago and love the quality of the food that it makes. I have yet to use the reverse side, but have cooked chicken, pork, and steaks on the griddle side. All the food comes out great and very juicy. Pork was extremely excellent using this griddle. I assume the other side will work well for pancakes too, but I have yet to see for myself.
Cleaning the grill is not too much of a problem. I usually put it in the sink right after I'm done cooking and put the faucet on for a minute. That will make things extremely steamy (obviously), but it really helps the cleaning process. After I eat I'll then use water and more paper towels to finish the cleaning. It works fine.
As advertised, I have not had a problem with the food sticking to the grill. I do use a little bit of vegetable oil though, which I put on evenly (using a paper towel) just to make sure there is no sticking. I would use olive oil, but that creates even more smoke I have heard...
And that gets us to the one problem with this product and the reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5. It is extremely smokey when cooking meat. You will have to disconnect your fire alarm if it's in that room and open any windows you have. I don't mind this, but I could see others having an issue with it.
