Great product January 7, 2009 The Catskill Crafsmen pastry board is wonderful!! It is a nicely finished board that is free of splinters and rough edges. It was very easy to clean after using. The measurement guide on the board allows for easy measuring of baking pastry as well.
The best quality! November 10, 2008 I'm relatively new to baking, and this board is just perfect. It's pretty huge and sturdy, which is great. I don't have storage space for it though, so it lays on my counter.... but that's fine with me since its wooden finish is gorgeously made. The baking graphics is perfect for beginners..... I find myself making perfect sized pies all the time because of this. And you can't beat the price!
The craftsmanship is great October 18, 2008 The craftsmanship & size of this pastry board is better than I expected. It even comes with a basic pastry receipe in the center of the board. it has 3(8,9,10inch) sizes for pies. Standard and metric measurements. Now I will be able to make a better pie crust, I know I will definitly like it for my homemade noodles. It's sole purpose is for a pastry board not a cutting board. Yes it does need seasoned when you open it, there is a card included with packaging that tells you to season it before using. I cant wait to use it, but I have to season it first. I should of bought the conditioner when I purchased it but didn't, I recommend that you do. When I do use it, I will creat a new review. Thank you for your craftmanship and fast service. I'm like a kid in a candy store excited.
pastry board February 22, 2008 I have been looking for a board like this to send my daughter-in-law for years. This is a beaut, pay attention to the "mineral oil" requirements, and all will probably enjoy this as much as can be done.
It isn't a "cutting board", but if one wished to do so the opposite side from the pattern would be the best place it seems to myself. You can always "hide" the scars you make by keeping one side for pastry, and the other for a "cutting board". Just keep them lightly oiled after washing them; either side.
The board should last a lifetime if well cared for. If abused it won't last a generation.
Just perfect January 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm a constant cook, which means I'm always in the kitchen. I moved and needed to protect a new kitchen island and bought three or four different boards out there in the brick and mortar. All of them curled. It has something to do [so I think] with the carved runnel on one side, but what ever, a curved board is no good at all, and I just couldn't find a runnel-less one. This one lays flat and it looks good as well. So I'm happy.
Update: A few months down the road I'm sorry to say that this one curls as well. Bummer.
