Product Description With its squared-off scoop head creating points, this little tool plunges easily through hard-frozen ice cream or sherbet. Dragged along the surface of a confection rather than plunged into it, it creates pretty ice cream or sherbet balls. Oxo regularly wins design awards for its Good Grips utensils with their familiar black processed-rubber handles. Oversize and soft for comfort, these handles feature fins or grooves, on their sides that flex under pressure, conforming to individual finger grips and providing control when handles are wet or slippery. Like all Oxo tools, this scoop is dishwasher-safe and a hole in its handle facilitates hanging on a hook or peg. Unit Weight - 8.0 ounces

over time, not dishwasher safe May 23, 2008 I've had this item several years and the scooper is coroding from being washed in the dishwasher. I'm going to get a stainless steel one next.
OXO Ice Cream Scoop February 8, 2008 This scoop is shaped perfectly to make full rounded scoops of ice cream. Very satisfying.
Just OK - has some flaws October 14, 2007 I've had this scooper a while. It's basically better than a spoon and that's about it. The most annoying thing about it is that water gets stuck in the handle everytime it's washed in the dishwasher. Tonight when I used it, water dripped out of the handle into my ice cream bowl. It is sometimes hard to empty the ice cream ball out of the scooper - I have put use a spoon to get it off. I also find that it only scoops best with a fairly full and flat ice cream tub. I am planning on trying a different scooper soon. I give this 3 stars instead of 2 only b/c I've had and used it so long I guess it's only fair.
Zinc head peels September 29, 2007 This product says it's dishwasher safe and the soft rubber grip feels great as is typical of OXO products. However, after 2 years of use, the inside of the scoop is peeling and had to be tossed since it was getting in the ice cream. I tried to buff it smooth before deciding to toss it but the peeled spots started getting bigger and bigger. It says it's warrantied but I don't have a receipt. At least I got 2 years of good use out of it. It scooped well and was strong enough for super frozen ice cream and the scoops made were aesthetically pleasing. I did notice that after a dishwasher cycle, some water would get trapped in the handle. The handle also became a bit loose. I'm going to try the Cuisinart stainless steel scoop, I hear stainless steel is the way to go.
Great scoop September 13, 2007 I really like this scoop. It will work on really hard ice cream, but I still prefer to let the ice cream soften a bit.
